Happy February Everyone!

We hope that you and your family are safe and warm during this winter cold-snap. On days when the temperature (according to Environment Canada) is below -20 with windchill, school doors will be open in the morning for students to come directly inside once they arrive. Normally, teachers are outside supervising at 8:30 until 8:45, but when it is below -20 all staff will be inside supervising students and opening doors. On days like today, our hope is that the temperature will warm up enough to go outside for recess and lunch, so please send your children with all the outdoor gear they need just in case.

Based on community feedback, the update from Administration will be sent out at the beginning of each month. Hillhurst School Council will send communication on Tuesdays, based on need. Homeroom teachers will continue to send out weekly classroom updates each Friday. February is such a short month, but there is lots to look forward to, including Writers in Residence beginning after the Family Day long weekend. Cathy Beverage is the Author working with our Division II students, and Marty Chan will be working with our Division I students. We look forward to sharing our writing with you!
