Hello Hillhurst Families,
Happy Monday! It's hard to believe that there only two weeks remaining until Winter Break. Even though the days are passing very quickly, there is still so much going on at school. Students are deep into their learning in their respective classes. It is wonderful to visit each classroom in the morning as they make plans and set learning intentions for the day. Students have such an important role to play in their learning--I truly love to find out more about their projects and tasks. Over the past week, some highlights have included stop-motion animation projects, book studies, current events conversations, and fraction games and challenges in the hallway while I toured our Area Director around for his monthly visit.
It truly takes a team of dedicated adults to make our learning community thrive. Last Friday, our 'Roving Readers' event occurred again. This is a time where teachers visit other classrooms than their own to have conversation and share a story. Our aim is two-fold, both to build connections between students and staff, and to share a love of stories of all kinds. Teachers are so excited to get to know students beyond the walls of their homerooms.
This Friday, December 13, from 9:00 - 10:00am, we will hold our annual Holiday Mix and Mingle. This is a drop-in opportunity for parents to gather with Administration and Members of School Council. We will serve coffee, tea, and cookies in the Gym. Our aim is to spend some time in good conversation, in a casual setting. There is no formal agenda, other than to make connections and build community. We hope you will consider joining us on Friday morning, everyone is welcome!

Have a wonderful week,
Kristin
