Good afternoon Parents and Guardians,   

A fairly busy week at Hillhurst as usual. Your child may have shared that we had Evergreen Theatre present, ‘Snow White and the Seven Regions’ to us yesterday. It’s been many years since we’ve had a live theatre presentation, and the students loved it. Thank you to the School Council (which includes each one of you) for being so generous with how you financially support initiatives like this. The teachers and students (and I) thank you!

Please help me in sending Ms. Jenni Saxton our best wishes while on a medical leave. In her place, Ms. Jennifer Sparksman will be our lead Administrative Assistant, answering your calls, and greeting you as you enter the office. We are in good hands until Ms. Saxton returns.

Student-Led Conferences – March 21 & 22

The upcoming learning conferences will be student-led. Half-hour blocks will be offered for up to 3 families to book to spend time visiting centers that have been designed for students to share their work samples, teach their parents a concept they have learned, engage in tasks together as well as meet with the teacher, either formally or informally. Your child essentially will act as your tour guide and celebrate their achievements with you. Conference booking will open NEXT Saturday.  

Teacher Potluck for Conferences

School council is seeking volunteers to help put together a potluck supper for teachers the night of conferences. Please sign up if you are interested in contributing. Thank you in advance! 

Career Day Volunteers 
We are hoping to continue last year’s successful CAREER DAY again this year. Career day is an opportunity for our students to be inspired and motivated by their families of the many paths they can pursue. It is designed to encourage students to explore their passions and deepen their strengths and learning. This year’s Career Day is tentatively set for Friday, April 26.

We are looking for 15 – 20 parents, guardians, friends or relatives of Hillhurst students who would be willing to share
their careers, jobs or passions with our students. Artifacts, hands-on activities and interactive presentations are encouraged! Career presentations will be 20 minutes each and there will be 3 sessions. Please fill out the
following form if you would like to volunteer for CAREER DAY.  

A teacher committee member will send you more specific information closer to the date. Thank you in advance for your support! 

Safety Reminders

As the temperatures starts to rise (yeah!), our icy patches and excess snow will turn into unwanted but inviting pools of muddy water. We will do our best to remind students to come in from recess as dry as they went out, but if you could also remind them, that would be greatly appreciated.
